Grovo has always been a mission-driven company, dedicated to empowering individuals and organizations to do their best work through effective learning. So it wasn’t a surprise when, in December of last year, our CEO Jeff Fernandez announced the next phase of Grovo: a philanthropic arm dedicated to using the power of our people and our product to make a positive impact in the global community. Grovo for Good was born.
We carry out the mission of Grovo for Good by partnering with nonprofits throughout New York City to donate money through our fundraising efforts and our time via monthly service days. These service days, known around the office as Fridays for Good, begin in August and will occur on the first Friday of every month. This is a designated time for Grovo employees to leave the office early and head over to a pre-determined nonprofit to provide various forms of service. In August, we’ll be heading to The Bowery Mission to lead professional development workshops driven by Grovo’s content and product.
In addition to monthly service days, we also host quarterly fundraisers to benefit nonprofits whose missions align with our own. Our inaugural fundraiser was a Summer Soirée held July 9 at Proper West to benefit The River Fund New York. We were able to raise over $20,000 from ticket sales, which went towards helping The River Fund New York feed more than 52,000 unique individuals across all five boroughs of New York City each month.
