Looking Back to Look Forward: 2016 at Grovo HQ

It’s the last week of December, which means the 3 stages of holiday feels are in full effect: reflection, year-end-list making and next-year-goal setting. Nowhere are those felt more strongly than here at Grovo HQ. While it’s safe to say 2016 has been an interesting one, it has also been one of the most rewarding—yet challenging—years in our company’s history. Let’s reflect, shall we?

17 million microlearning moments delivered

This year was a big one for the business. We started the year with $40M in Series C Funding, and over the past 18 months, we have seen substantial growth leading to over 17 million microlearning moments since we started on this journey 6 years ago. In fact, we delivered more lessons in 2016 alone than in the previous 5 years combined. And we’re just getting started.

Our amazing customers made change through learning

We wouldn’t have hit these milestones without change-making customers and partners committed to bringing forward-thinking microlearning programs to their people. In 2016, we saw our customer base grow significantly and welcomed organizations such as VaynerMedia, FCB Global, InterContinental Hotels Group, Madison Square Garden, and Time Warner/Spectrum Reach to our Grovo customer community. With every great customer comes powerful stories to tell about the impact of microlearning on their organizations. Some of our favorites included:

Crucial topics tackled—Grovo style

In our mission to reimagine workplace learning for enterprise organizations, we are always adding new lesson tracks to our ever-expanding content library. This year, we were excited to tackle important, relevant topics for every business including Handbooks, Financial Fundamentals, and Unconscious Bias training. We also partnered with Wakefield Research to develop a research study to better understand the modern management deficit and how you can train your way out of it.

Our company culture earned acclaim

Once again, Grovo was recognized for our outstanding company culture with more than a dozen awards for both our workplace and business practices. Some of our proudest moments this year included:

  • Named #2 on Fortune’s Best Medium Workplaces list
  • Moved up to #14 on the Crain’s Best Places to Work in NYC list
  • The Stevie Award for Front-Line Customer Service Team of the Year
  • Recognized as a LEAD2016 Leadership Excellence Award Winner by HR.com

We couldn’t have achieved any of these awards without our dedicated and hardworking team of amazing Grovo Sapiens. People like Shaina Shiwarski, who was recognized as a finalist in this year’s Women in Sales Awards. And PS, we’re hiring.

We’re not done yet

2016 was great, but 2017 will be even better. First up? Starting the new year in brand new offices on both sides of the country. We ended 2016 by packing up our NYC home for the last two years at 3 Park Avenue in order to begin 2017 in a brand new office in the heart of Flatiron in 50 west 23rd street. And on the same day we cut the ribbon on our NYC space, we will also be opening our first ever West Coast office in San Francisco.

We are hard at work on a ton of exciting new content, features and insights for next year, and we can’t wait to share everything with you soon. But first, as always, we must thank you—our partners, customers and friends. We wouldn’t be here without you, and we look forward to continuing to transform workplace behaviors through learning with you in 2017. New year, new Grovo? You’ll just have to wait and see!
